●  Cafu started his senior football career in 1989 with a Brazilian football club. Just one year later in September 1990, he got his first international cap for Brazil against Spain. Cafu is the most capped player for Brazil team.

●  Cafu has player 21 FIFA World Cup matches which is a record. Brazil won two World Cups (1994 and 2002) under his strong defense. He has played 142 matches for Brazil and scored 4 goals in his 16 years of career.

●  Cafu also has record of playing three consecutive FIFA World Cup finals and won two World Cups for Brazil in 1994 and 2002. Brazil won under his captaincy in 2002 World Cup.

●  He played club football for different clubs in three different leagues. He spent most of his career in Serie A, playing for Milan and Roma. He won two Seire A titles, one with Milan and the other one with Roma. He also won UEFA Champions League with Milan in 2006-07 and FIFA Club World Cup in 2007.

●  He was awarded the South American Footballer of the Year in 1994. Cafu announced his retirement from professional football in 2008. His name was added in the list of FIFA 100 (list of greatest living football players) by Pele.
