Cruyff Turn
Cruyff Turn
Cruyff turn is a football skill which is associated with
Netherlands football legend Johan Cruyff. He performed this skill in the World
Cup 1970. Johan Cruyff was tightly covered by defender and he feint to cross
the ball, defender followed his movement but instead of crossing he dragged the
ball from behind the standing leg and beaten the defender.
This is a unique skill which can be very effective when a
forward is totally covered by a defender. This skill gives a forward huge
advantage if it is executed perfectly. You need to focus these key points to
practice Cruyff turn.
Use this skill
when defender covers you completely.
Get the ball in
front of you and keep the defender away from the ball with your body.
Fake the cross
or pass with your non-dominant foot and bend your body to fake the move.
Defender will
follow your movement and will take a step to cover the cross.
Hook the ball
with inner of your non-dominant foot and drag the ball from behind standing
leg.
If executed
perfectly, fake pass will dodge the defender and provide you open space and
time.
This skill
needs a lot of practice to do it perfectly during the match.
