Pichichi Trophy (also known as Trofeo Pichichi) is one of the oldest football award in Spanish football. It was first introduced in 1953 and awarded to the top goal scorer of the Spanish league. It is not officially recognized by La-Liga because this award is presented by the sports Magazine “Marca”.
The trophy was named after Rafeal Pichichi who was the striker of Athletic Bilbao. Lionel Messi is the only active player who has won six Pichichi Trophies. Telmo Zarra is the only ex-player who has won it six times.
Alfredo Di Stéfano has the honor of winning the Pichich trophy for four consecutive seasons while representing Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid striker Hugo Sánchez also won four consecutive Pichichi Trophies. .
