Scissor Skill (Step Over)

Scissor Skill (Step Over)

Scissor skill is also known as step-over skill. It’s a dribbling move in football which is used to deceive the defender to go towards wrong direction. A forward steps over the ball with his one foot and fake a move to go in one direction. Defender will follow the direction and the forwards will get open space pass defense.

Scissor skill was invented by Netherlands football player Law Adam in 1920. He was given a nickname “The Scissors-man” for his brilliant move. The skill is very effective and deadly on the pitch and can fool a defender easily. Many players are using this trick during match. You need to focus these key points to practice Scissor skill or step-over skill.

Keep the ball approximately half a yard in front of you.

Step over the ball clockwise with your right foot by leaning your body to the same direction

Defender will follow your direction to cover you.

Now bring your left foot closer to ball and touch the ball with outer foot to push it in the left direction

Defender will be unbalanced and you will get huge space in left direction.

Change the pace and get a little speed to get out of defender’s reach.

Scissor skill is ideal to use when you are 2 to 3 steps away from defender.
