UEFA Champions League is the biggest and most prestigious club football event in Europe. Top clubs from different football leagues qualify for UEFA Champions League. It was first organized in 1955 by UEFA. Total 32 clubs from top leagues in the world participate in the group stage of Champions League.

These 32 teams are divided into 8 groups and each group has four teams. In the group stage, each team two matches (home and away) with all three teams of the group. Top two teams from each group qualify for the “round of 16” of Champions league. The matches are decided through a draw in the “Round of 16”. Each club plays two matches (home and away) with the opponent. After the completion of “Round of 16”, the winner 8 clubs qualify for quarterfinals. The winner of UEFA Champions League qualifies for the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club world Cup of the same season.

22 different clubs from different leagues have won UCL title and 12 clubs have won the title more than once. Real Madrid is the most successful club in the Champions league history with 13 UCL wins. Milan is second in the list with 7 league titles.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the top goal scorer of the Champions league with 126 goals in 163 matches. Lionel Messi has scored 112 goals in 136 matches with an average of 0.82 goals per match. Below is the list of winners of UEFA Champions league from 1955.
