UEFA Super Cup is a championship match which is organized annually by UEFA. It is a single match competition which is played between the winner of UEFA Champions League and winner of UEFA Europa League. It was founded in 1972 by UEFA. In the start the Super Cup match was played in two legs (home and away) but due to schedule issues it was decided to make it a single match competition in 1997. The match is organized at a neutral venue.

 Lionel Messi is the only player who has been named as “Man of the Match” twice in 2009 and 2015. Radamel Falcao is the only player who scored a hat-trick in the single final against Chelsea in 2012. Barcelona is the most successful club in UEFA Super Cup. Barcelona qualified 9 times for the Super Cup , won five times and lost 4 times. Second in the list is Milan with five Cup titles. Real Madrid has won the title 4 times. Top two teams from La Liga used to participate in Spanish Super Cup in the end of each season till 2018 but from 2019, there are four teams which participate in Super cup. Two top teams from La Liga and two finalists of Copa del Rey.

Barcelona is the most successful club in Spanish Super Cup with 13 titles. Real Madrid is behind Barca with 10 Super Cup titles. Lionel Messi is the top goal scorer in the competition who has scored 13 goals in 18 matches. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 4 goals in Spanish Super Cup matches.
