Atletico Madrid’s boss Diago Simeone is interested in bringing the Spanish legend Fernando Torres back to his boyhood club and report says that Torres is also willing to make a return to Spanish capital.
Fernando Torres recently announced his retirement from the national and club football. He made this decision while playing for Japanese side “Sagan Tosu”. On 23rd of August 2019 he played his last match for Sagan Tosu and then he announced his retirement in a press conference.
Atletico’s chief Enrigu Cerezo recently had a meeting with Torres in Japan, and he offered him a position in the management of the club. The meeting ended in a positive atmosphere.
Torres has a soft corner for his boyhood club Atletico Madrid. He started his football career with Atletico Madrid academy in 1995. In 2001 Torres got a contract to play in senior team of Atletico Madrid. Torres had a successful career at the club. He scored 91 goals in 244 matches and also helped Atletico to win UEFA Europa League in 2017-18.

In 2007, he left the club to join Liverpool. He spent four successful seasons in Liverpool and scored 81 goals in 142 appearances for the Reds. Torres joined Chelsea in 2011 and scored 45 goals for the club in 172 matches. Torres won FA Cup title in 2011-12, UEFA Champions League title in 2011-12 and UEFA Europa League title in 2012-13 with Chelsea.
In 2014, Torres joined the Italian side AC Milan on a loan deal. He spent only one year in Serie A and then made a return to his ex-club Atletico Madrid. He spent four more seasons in Laliga and added up 38 more goals in his stats for Atletico.
In 2018, he made a decision to join Japanese side Sagan Tosu where scored 6 goals in 38 matches. Torres also had an outstanding national Career. He won two UEFA European Championship titles in 2008 and 2012, one FIFA world Cup in 2010 for Spain.

Atletico Madrid head coach Simeone also showed interest in working with Torres under the Club’s flag. In an interview he said, “Fernando is an intelligent Player and a legend in football. I hope he will not take so long that we can work together”.
