Lionel Messi has recently faced a lot of issues regarding his International football career. Recently his team did not play well in Copa America 2019 and South American giant was knocked out by Brazil from the tournament in Semi final of Copa America 2019. Lionel Messi also received a Red card in the match against Chili.
In post match interview Messi made allegations about the governing body of South American Football and said " We do not have to be part of this corruption. They lacked respect for player in whole tournament. They don't allow people to enjoy the tournament".
Messi did not attend the medal ceremony. Lionel Messi also pointed out that the tournament is fixed for Brazil. Messi's prediction was happened to be true and Brazil won the final by 3 : 1 from Peru. Well what Messi said was against discipline and rules of the tournament.
The South American Football confederation (CONMEBOL) took disciplinary action against Messi and banned him from playing International tournament for three months and Argentinian was also fine 50000 USD. Lionel Messi was also given a chance to appeal against his punishment.

By the way, banned from International football will not actually affect Messi's stats because he will only miss three matches in this whole period, two friendly matches with Mexico and Chili in September and one friendly match with Germany in October.
