This is Why Unai Emery got sacked by Arsenal

Finally the decision has been taken and it has been announced by the Arsenal that Uni Emery has been sacked as the head coach of the Gunners. It was predicted days before that Emery can be sacked due to constant display of bad performance by the team.

Unai Emery got sacked, Freddie new manager

Josh Kroenke announced on behalf of Arsenal board, he said “our most sincere thanks to Unai and his colleague who were unrelenting in their effort to get the club back to competing at the level we all expect and demand. We wish Unai and his team nothing but future success”.

The decision was taken by the Arsenal board due to the lack of consistency in performance of team. Gunners could not grab a win in last seven matches and the month of November was gone without a win.

The decision was taken after the 2 – 1 defeat by Frankfurt in the Europa League on Thursday night. Emery looked helpless during the whole match. In last seven matches, Arsenal lost two and draws five matches.

The sports journalist James Olley has written the inside story about Emery and club. He mentioned that the Spanish coach had lost the control in the dressing room and it was the demand from inside the dressing room to replace the head coach.

It was reported that after 1 – 1 draw from Victoria SC earlier this month, Emery was sat alone in the private plane of the club and players showed discourteous behavior to him.

Arsenal players were angry on Emery’s decision to demote Graint Xhaka from the captainship. One player shouted in the dressing room, “How many captains do we have”? Players also used to taunt him due to his English accent. It has also reported that Emery was considering resign as a head coach of Gunners due to the disrespectful behavior of some players.

Things have gone worse for Emery when he allowed players to choose their captain. This eroded the sense of authority he had in the club. The decision also created controversy among the players۔

Many players complained about the lack of communication between the coach and them.  Saka said, “Sometimes when I don’t understand when the coach is trying to communicate with me, we have a better communication with Freddie.”

One player also admitted that he had more communication with ex-coach Arsene Winger than Emery. Gunner’s ex- coach used to take much longer time to convey his massage to players during training sessions. Many players used to leave during club meetings because they could not make sense what Emery was telling them.

After six months as a boss in club, Emery did not know the name of many staff members. These little mistakes made a huge problem for him to keep the position in the club.

The Spanish coach never settled in Premier League, he used to travel to his home town quite regularly during the off days. He was expected to leave in the end of the season but the decision was taken too soon.

Many players have expressed intimacy for Emery. Gunner’s goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez tweeted about him, “Thank you Unai Emery, I am sorry we let you down, it is our fault for not performing the right way. I’m sure we will meet again”.

David Luiz also made an apology to the ex-boss. He tweeted, “Sad day for everybody, we let you down boss, sorry”. Brazilian had played under his coaching in PSG as well.

If we look at Emery’s stats in previous clubs than we come to the conclusion that he has been quit a successful manager in French club PSG. He won one Ligue 1 title (2017–18), two Coupe de France titles (2016–17, 2017–18), two Coupe de la Ligue titles (2016–17, 2017–18) and two Trophée des Champions title (2016, 2017). With this history, he will be an ideal option as a manager for the French clubs.

Freddie Ljungberg took over the charge as a temporary replacement of Emery. It will be challenging for Freddie to turn things around for Arsenal.
